Our YouTube Channel is ready for action. As mentioned before, there's many benefits of having a YouTube Channel dedicated to class:
- The videos displayed can be organized into categorized playlists.
- The channel is dedicated to content that I've selected and removes the "related" videos on the side. This can eliminate stumbling across inappropriate content.
- It's a space for multimedia on the web that students can use to further their knowledge of class concepts.
Navigating the Channel
- On the right side of the screen you'll see the current playlists. By selecting the title, the individual playlists will be replaced by the videos in the selected list.
- Any videos with students or student work is unlisted. Meaning, student videos do not appear in search results or related listings. Only those with the link can access the video.
This Week's Features:
A special thanks to: Annie, Nate, Mity, and Maddy for bringing these to our attention.
This, I believe
The featured video is a compilation of the first set of "I believes." Throughout the year, we'll pause to ask students how what they're learning in class is influencing how they see the world. We've partnered with a senior english class from Plymouth for this project. Once again, this video is unlisted. Only those with the link can access it.
Student Favorites
To prepare for the launch, I asked students if they would send me some of their favorite videos with educational content. Under "Student Favorites" you'll find an entertaining Brit discussing some stellar information, a creative blend of neon lighting and dance, and a few technological innovations that are as ridiculous as they are creative, and a mini-golf hole that gives a whole new meaning to the term putt-putt.
Other Playlists
For the moment, I've posted a number of playlists featuring book trailers, author, and illustrator interviews. If students are watching them, I'll continue to leave them up. If not, I'll go back to my original idea of adding one or two playlists a week.
