Simple Machine Resources Run Down

At the top of the resource page you can download a game reflection.  Utilizing these resources are what differentiates a 2 from a 2+.  Putting in the extra time to evaluate the activities on the response sheets is a great way to show me that you're a 3.

Students can also submit reflections by commenting on this post.  Those students will also receive a link to the hidden game-page, where the really good games are.

Interactive Games:

The first game comes from the Chicago Museum of Science and Industry. It's pretty amazing.  Everything down to the loading screen is well done.  Not only are the activities relavent, the graphics are outstanding, the characters are adorable even the music compliments the game to a T.

The next two activities enable students to explore common simple machines.  In the two EggHead games, students answer questions as they problem-solve in everyday situations. The first focuses on simple machines, while the latter attends to compound machines

The final game asks students to test out differently designed parts to help the robot accomplish his task.

Informative Video:

I was very impressed with the students after we watched these videos.  The first question out of their mouths was, "When were these made?"  I think they were all pleasantly surprised to see that something as "un-modern" as these animations are were of such high quality.
