In This Post You'll Find:
The following is a directory of resources your student can use to enhance and enrich their understanding of our energy unit in science.
- Games and videos about friction, potential, and kinetic energy
- Electricity and Magnetism games and videos
- (Light and Sound resources coming soon)
- Left Side: of the page you'll find more explicit interactive videos about potential and kinetic energy as well as a "millionaire" quiz. On the bottom left is a link to some fun Rube Goldberg games. These don't explicitly teach energy but students can observe where the objects have potential energy and when it transfers to kinetic
- Right Side: The first two games are the finest quality I've seen around and brought to us courtesy of the BBC. They're as engaging as they are explicitly educational. The following activities are fun but I wouldn't expect students to engage with them more than one time through. The roller coaster and amusement park games ask students to use their knowledge to build rides. Those should be a hit.
- At the bottom of the page you'll see the "Video Playlist" button:
- This link will take you to a playlist about energy on our classroom YouTube page. By starting the video at the top right, the playlist will cycle through.
- This page follows the previous format. On the left side you'll find the more explicit games and activities about electricity, circuits and magnets.
- While the M.I. games are incredibly done, don't let them fool you, they're packed with information in an unobtrusive way. Simple concept reminders begin the activity. Students are asked to use their knowledge of the concept and apply it to the MI scenario.
- At the bottom you'll see another link to a video playlist on our YouTube Channel.
Light and sound and study guides to follow.
