I can't get over what an amazing day I had with our new class. First, I want to thank everybody for the energy and enthusiasm you brought to the classroom. I thrive on it and you didn't disappoint.
I just wanted to put up a few link to some of the things we discussed in class today. First, our Dare Mighty Things project.
Here's last year's project: This, I believe.
And here's the link to the 7 minutes of terror video that we'll be using as this year's inspiration:
For those of you interested in what Curiosity has been up to lately, here's a link to NASA's updates.
Finally, a little explanation of tonight's math homework. I've asked you guys to solve the addition problem 18+17+25 in 4-5 different ways. Below is an example. It certainly isn't the most efficient way of solving the equation, I get that. But I want you guys to get used to solving calculation problems at least two different ways. First off, because I think it's fun. Secondly, because so many times I see students lose credit for a problem that they know how to solve. If you get used to trying it multiple ways, that should never happen again! Plus, it's kinda fun, right? Anyway, we're starting off easy. Some simple addition but just wait until you see how you can use these strategies whether it's multiplication or 6 digit subtraction.
Plus, if you're reading this before you've finished your homework, I'm totally proud. And to show my appreciation, you can directly copy down my way and count it as your own!
