Around the Web Info

Every week or so I like to pull together some of the interesting multimedia I find around the web. Each link is posted with students in mind. I only post links from reputable websites however, it's important to remember that these sites are not developed for kids. While I have vetted the content in each article, video, slideshow, and the websites frontpage (direct links, advertisements), I can't guarantee that every link associated with the sites is kid friendly. I've asked students to stick to the posted articles unless a parent has checked the site they're interested in exploring.

It's important to guide students through the process of safe web navigation as opposed to cutting it out. As I hope to showcase here, the internet is the richest information/inspiration resource humanity has ever seen. It's essential for students to get experience about how to utilize the web for it's positive potential.

This Week:
Start off with a little fun and watch this card trick. I have no idea. Next, you'll find some cool science and technology: a slideshow of sunken ships, panoramic tours of the Smithsonian, a view inside the newest Google office, a slideshow history of Apple's design followed by an article about their "Think Different" campaign, a virtual field trip with Brain Selznick to the Museum of Natural History, Video from a baby sloth orphanage, an article about Voyager leaving our solar system, an tribute to Jim Henson in images, and finally find out a little more about renowned street artist Banksy's plan to "give" away a valuable piece of his art.
